HASHTAGS & HEART ATTACKS architects. hashtags. pack your buildings in your roller bags. board the plane. there's a conversation we need to frame. tell her i love her. i'm on my way. tailored suits. dog tags. trade your luck that you never had. a fortune teller play, written in text and tailor made. tell her i love her. i'm on my way. maiden interviews in weather. wearing gold and blackened heather. the thunderstorms brought us together. i'm coming for you in December. tough shit. my bad. i said i'm coming but I'm crashing bad. i've fought some better days. some that burned and some that paid. tell her I love her. i'm on my way. tight fits. autograohs. killing time between the heart attacks. tell her I love her. maiden interviews in weather. wearing gold and blackened heather. the thunderstorms brought us together. I'm coming for you in December. tell her I love her. i'm on my way.

THE LONGEST SUMMER it's the longest summer and it's not like any other. the kids in masks are covered up and undercover. even if it rains and there's no thunder we can't complain. but we can make and we can wonder. if it's shit today and if tomorrow's the same then all is lost. what comes at cost is luck. i hope that you're ok, but if you're not ok then wake me up even if it's fucked, my love. i'll hold you for a whole winter. we'll take shelter. we'll take pictures. you'll take my heart and you'll write the finest scriptures. there's complicated battles and prize among the cattle. he sits alone and breathes, waits for them to leave. let's climb aboard this saddle. we've never been so rattled before. don't take too long to realize that we're the ones who live our lives. don't listen to the radio. don't take too long to realize that we're the ones who live our lives. alone can't be the way to go.

Ivan James 04:17
IVAN JAMES just brave the light a little. to catch the sights, it's simple. so much to see and hold and feel. so new and surreal. there's time enough for waking. just sleep and we'll be taking our own time to get to know you while everything is brand new. this world is for the taking. don't ever be mistaken... what feel like limbs are wings, my boy. ivan james ivan james. you were early and you were all at once. ivan james ivan james. can't wait for you to fall in love. ivan james ivan james. you were named for all they meant to us. come what may, come what may, for better or worse, you're one of us. we couldn't wait to meet you. the capitol's in clear view. there's statues on the hill. you have no shoes to fill until the story you'll be making. a flight that's so worth taking... what feel like limbs are wings, my boy. ivan james... we can leave the light on. can't wait for you to fall in love.

1989 04:26
1989 summer bakes this angry island, a barren stretch of sweat and chrylon. day and night i'm coming to meet you. we're carrying on. we're carrying on. on the trains to the spots that we see. watching VHS of H-Street. bring your tapes and carry your stereo. this summer will bury you. sing for me. i'll wait for you. parking blocks and loading docs. abandoned malls. abandoned parking lots. day and night, i'm trying to finding you. they're calling the cops. they're calling the cops. getting chased by the SPPD. don't take a rest 'cause this ain't easy. forget the tapes, but don't drop the stereo. i promise to carry you. doing time since 1989. this is urgent. urgency. it's on fire. emergency. step out step up, get out but don't fuck your shit up. don't you ever listen? just be the ones to be there for your own. it's what we've always known.

Birds 03:29
BIRDS you and me of a feather, you see. a couple birds from the nest of a tree back east. i'm skinny jeans and a bad memory. you're all the books and a talent machine to me. you're coffee stains and a hoodie or two. a couple wheels and the only one I'd choose. by the see, a lake or on a ledge, we'll be holding hands forsaking death. a life knows no such debt as a love so bright so thee I wed. you and me and all the friends that we need. a guitar, the stars and a tambourine river run so we can ride with you. we're chasing shapes along the avenues. elysian, i see you wake. a morning means so much at sake. this life know what it takes. a life so right, a life so great.

FOR WANT OF i, i believe. memory might might mirror no reflections on me. i, i believe that in forgetting i might set myself free. but i woke up this morning with a piece of past caught in my throat and then i choked. i, i bled i tried to hide the heart from the head. i, i said i bled in the arms of a girl i barely met. i woke up this morning with the present in splinters on the ground, and then i drowned. and if i can't see it's for want of you. you, i said i see. if there's nothing here then it's probably mine. my, my turn to see. if there's nothing here then it will always be mine. mine. i woke up this morning with a piece of past caught in my throat and then i choked. i, i guess i've learned the taste of the days that will always burn. i, i guess i've learned if it's in the corner of my eye then i can't always turn. i woke up this morning with the present in splinters on the ground, and then i drowned. if i can't see, it's for want of you.

Inverness 03:06
INVERNESS waking up this morn i found your shoes on the floor. the light was kerosene. the wolves were at the door. we took our medicine. we made our plans to jettison our enemies with common sense. we ran for hills and almost wept. that was inverness. coffee, books and tireless. the sun won't set for hours yet. st andrews by the sea. the night is almost make-believe. felt your head upon my chest. tell me what you hear up in the trees. it's barely sound until it leaves. the call of edinboro's best. the night won't fall 'til scotland rests. hold me. shiver when we breathe. the battle's fallen lay, culloden field where we all pray that england's not forgotten yet. and there's a price they paid. a debt was made of blood and trade. the clans will not forget. tell me what you hear up in the trees. it's barely sound until it leaves. the call of edinboro's best. the night won't fall 'til scotland rests. hold me. shiver when we breathe. this lake's a carousel of open gates and empty wells. oh well, oh well.

WE WENT NATIONAL 1995. it was the graceland of our lives. we were all instinct and still learning how to drive. that summer was alive for 30 states and 30 nights. cassettes and maps and things that filled the time and gave us wings. we went national, a caravan of fools. transmission was manual. they held us accountable. take heed, take heart. being apart might have been the only way to start. the best way to survive is put out the flames before it's even fire. if you get on the boards, you can see from even higher. it's the only way to survive. we saw capitols and followed all the clues. the mission was radical. the views were incredible. take heed, take heart. being apart might have been the only way to start. new jersey, delaware, maryland, washington dc, west virginia, ohio, kentucky tennessee, arkansas, oklahoma, texas, new mexico, colorado, utah, arizona, nevada, calfornia, oregon, montana, wyoming, south dakota, minnestoa, wisconsin, illinois, indiana, michigan, ohio, pennsylvania and back home to new jersey. take heed, take heart. being apart. believe, it's hard. i'll never for get the time in that car. might have been the only way to, might be the only way to start.

Cold Case 05:07
COLD CASE i've been broken once or twice believing in the signs of a world pounding drums for enemies. i'm over the feelings. i'm mystified. if all it takes is just me saying that i could have been mistaken, no wonder why these things don't show. she could bring me back to life breathing into these eyes the words sounding older than me in a manner of speaking. they crystallize. it's just a case of cold casing, of finding all the bodies. no trace of blood or case to close. you might raise me from the dead, from a night so desolate. the curbs and cracks are full of creeps and things. the stores and lights don't light up anything. if you raised me from the dead that would be so excellent. we went chasing northern lights. the sun was in our eyes for days. the nights were colder than we could bother to be. we realized. for god's sake must still be shaking. i swear that i'm still shaking. no wonder why the sky won't snow. if you raised me from the dead, to keep me warm and live again. don't call the cops on me. the hour glass is half-empty. if you raised me from the dead i would burn all evidence. i would make you tea. i'd set things straight and help you see. could you raise me from the dead? if you raised me from the dead that would be so excellent.
12.
do you see me like i see you? time lost, can never understand the lives like most. we want to be alone. we can't be alone. do you see me like i see you? we can't believe the the things we ask for. we can't believe the things we want. do you see me? do you see more than i do?.

The Dawning 05:41
THE DAWNING tonight, tonight when you open up your dreams make your way to me. i don't delight when you motion like you scream. you're tearing at the seams. in the morning there's no one calling here. when it's dawning the sun will rise, my dear. it takes some time to open up your eyes, to push away the dark that marks the night. when you rise you shine in a cabin where we live, a place that's off the grid. when i call her professor's daughter we're in beds or parlors, on ships or charters clear. the hopes and bones that make a home are all there is to me. the hand i hold, the seeds we've sown, they're all they have to be if puddles gather, it won't matter now. we'll hide together from the weather's clouds. rain or shine, the darkness just divides these mornings of our lives. and the reasons why, the reasons we give are the reasons we live. 'cause in the morning there's no one calling here. and when it's dawning the sun will rise, my dear.

about

WE ARE ANDEMIC is an experiment in home recording, a modest attempt to find some creative agency during a time of social austerity. While a few songs were in development prior to March 2020, the majority of the tracks were written, recorded and mixed under the pall of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Though a solo project, ANDEMIC was never intended to bear the aesthetic of singer/songwriter convention. This collection of songs draws its inspiration from bands, the joyful sounds of indie rock bombast and expression that employ anthemic turns and immediacy. It aspires to feel bigger than the space in which it was created, and more expansive than the set of hands that scribed it. It feigns and celebrates the aesthetic of collaboration in the absence of it.

As we hopefully near the end of this madness, it seems like an appropriate time to announce ANDEMIC's musings, to move forward declaring that this historic window of loneliness hasn't been fruitless.

More than anything, this publish is offered as an audio document of an otherwise quiet and isolating time... the solo effort of a communal heart. WE. ARE. ANDEMIC.
